the ideas surrounding a word; depending on the context, you use either one
meaning or another.
Exercise:
Look up the
word or words underlined in each sentence, and choose the meaning that fits the
context. Write the meaning below each sentence.
1- Anna brought
up four children by herself.
2- Marco looks
after his pets every afternoon.
3- Emilio
has a beautiful fair hair.
4- There’s
a huge gap between teenagers and old people.
5- She’s
always looking down on people.
6- A sail
is an important part of a boat.
7- Men
usually wear a tie in formal events.
8- I booked
a concert ticket last night.
9- Young
shouldn’t make up, they are naturally beautiful.
10- Plastic
artists use a lot of oil when painting.
